It’s the first Cuban American-inspired Broadway musical – set in Miami – and it’s coming full circle with its regional premiere in Miami!  OYF is the true love story of Gloria & Emilo Estefan and their rise to musical fame despite exile, struggle and obstacles. Eileen will be playing the role of Gloria’s mom and performing the hit song Mi Tierra.

The musical packs in the greatest hits, like “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “Conga,” “Get On Your Feet,” “Oye Mi Canto,” “Doctor Beat” and “Coming Out of the Dark.” You may want to wear comfortable dancing shoes. Just in case.

A Cuban mother and her American-born daughter take a hopelessly misguided “bonding trip” to Paris loaded with explosive emotional baggage. Then a real bomb goes off. It’s a dark comedy from Cuban American playwright Marisol Medina, and Eileen plays the daughter desperately trying to connect with her mom.  There’s also a sexy French Algerian bellboy, three languages bandying about, and A LOT of complications.

It’s being presented as a reading in The Fulton’s first-ever Stories of Diversity series.

Eileen launched her debut children’s book in her own hometown surrounded by excited children who came out to enjoy her read aloud her story, plus live music, crafts & free books! Organized by Read Conmigo, an incredible group that encourages bilingual literacy by publishing and giving away books in English & Spanish, like Eileen’s story of a group of fun-loving grandparents who turn a party into a lively lesson for the grandkids about love & friendship.
