So I go on one of my first auditions for a commercial in New York.  They had a script in English but wanted me to also spontaneously translate the script into Spanish so I could audition in both languages.

I did the deed and earned myself  a callback that very afternoon.  Uh-Oh.  I had tickets to see Broadway’s South Pacific at 7pm.  My callback was at 6:20pm.  I got there early, but didn’t get seen  early.  Double Uh-Oh.

I spent some quality time in the packed callback room with the director, who seemed excited by my performance & had me read the script several ways.

Once finished, I dashed for the nearest subway.  At Lincoln Center, I ran to the theatre (with one breathless stop to ask a policeman which theatre it was!)  I made it to my seat one minute before the lights went down!  And by intermission, I had a message on my phone telling me the production company needed my sizes for the wardrobe department…!

That was one exciting day!
